The first time I heard of caramel cake, was when my dad told me it was his favorite cake. My aunt always bakes him a pound cake and then puts caramel icing on it. When I made this recipe for my daddy’s birthday I baked a simple three-layer cake. My dad said the icing was perfect.

Easy Caramel Cake Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 2 Sticks Butter room temperature
  • 1/2 Cup Crisco
  • 3 Cup Sugar
  • 3 Cup Flour
  • 5 Eggs room temperature
  • 1 Tbsp Vanilla
  • 2 Tbsp Bake Powder
  • 1 1/2 Cup Milk
  • 1 Cup Butter melted
  • 2 Cup Dark Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Milk
  • 4 Cup Confectioners Sugar
  • 1 Tbsp Vanilla

Method
 

  1. Cream together the butter, crisco, and sugar.
  2. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. Add milk and flour, alternately, beating well.
  4. Add vanilla
  5. Pour into 3 greased and floured 9-inch cake pans.
  6. Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes or until done- cool and frost.
  7. Caramel Frosting in a pot combine butter and brown sugar.
  8. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
  9. Boil for 2 minutes
  10. Add milk and return to boil
  11. Remove from heat, and let stand until cool
  12. Slowly beat in confectioner sugar and vanilla
  13. Beat until thick enough to spread on layers
